The world is a beautiful gift, with very wonderful wrapping paper around it. But if you’re stuck with the wrapping paper you will not even open it! You will not see the gift inside ! This is what most people do! They hold on to the wrapper! Maybe there are yummy cookies inside and so the wrapper also smells very good, but you can’t taste the wrapper! Yet, you attribute the fragrance to the wrapper because you have not gone past it! As long as you hold on to the wrappers, you cannot get past them. Like, if you’re holding on to stones in your hands, your hands will not be free to take diamonds, or gold, because your hands are full of rocks! Surrender the wrapping paper! Let go of the rocks! Surrender doesn’t means bondage, powerlessness or defeat. Without surrender, there is no freedom and when you surrender, you get infinite freedom. The greater your surrender, the bigger your freedom. The freer you’re, the more powerful you’re. The greatest power is in surrendering to the Divine. It’s like a drop owning the ocean. A drop, if it remains separate, will perish, but when it becomes the ocean, it’s eternal; it remains forever. Surrender brings rest, the whirlpool of the mind becomes silent, calm and you are able to see the depth of the consciousness. To see the depth, to unite with the depth, is Yoga. The wave uniting with its depth is Yoga. The Yogasara Upanishad by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
